MICHAEL FINCH, LPT, CAS, CADCA: (Counselor and co-owner) Michael has been working in the field of addiction since 1990 in a variety of ways. He started out working in psychiatric nursing and working with co-occurring disorders. He has also worked with assisting doctors and nurses in medical detox of substance abuse patients. Michael has worked full time at the chemical dependency unit at SouthCoastMedicalCenter (Genesis and Pacific Coast Recovery) in Laguna Beach, CA. as a counselor since 1992. He completed further education at the Training Institute for Addiction Counselors, is a member of CADAC, NADAC, the American Academy of Addictive Disorders and continues to maintain his psychiatric technician license through the state of California, Michael has also had training in interventions and is interested in furthering his experience in that area. More than anything he believes that deep inside every alcohol/addict there is a desire to find recovery and he is dedicated to helping individuals get in touch with that part of them.
TOM OFFERDAHL, CATC: (Counselor/co-owner) Tom is a Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor and has been working in the field of addiction since 1995. He interned at South Coast Medical Center and Capo by the Sea. Tom started his career working in Residential treatment as both a counselor and case manager. He also worked in the court system in the PC1000 program. Tom interned at South Coast Medical Center and then became one of their primary counselors in the Genesis Program. He supervised their internship program and also ran the weekly Family Group for 10 years. He facilitated both chemical dependency groups as well as psychiatric educational groups, sometimes these groups were combined. Tom is a member of CADAC, NADAC, and CAADE. He also is a trained interventionist and active in the recovery community. Being an addict himself he has a passion for his work and a genuine desire to help those suffering from addiction and their loved ones.
EMILY McCLAIN: (Yoga instructor) Emily has been practicing yoga for six years and teaching multiple styles of yoga for the last five. Her first exposure to yoga was in 2002 at a hot and sweaty Bikram yoga class. It was after that class that Emily felt like she had come home again to a place where her body and mind could be both connected and rejuvenated. Since then Emily has become a certified Bikram yoga teacher and currently teaches the Bikram method of hatha yoga in Orange County. Emily has also studied and completed over 300 hours of Anusara Yoga including a Level 1 Immersion, Level 1 Teacher Training and workshops with founder John Friend and senior teacher Desiree Rambaugh. Emily is also registered at the foundations level in Svaroopa yoga and recently completed the Khalsa way training for prenatal yoga at GoldenBridge. Emily loves to use music, heart centered themes and breath -work in all of her classes and is most inspired by the simplest poses in hatha yoga and their ability to transform bodies, minds and hearts. Emily has been teaching yoga in the recovery community for 2 years and focuses on breath, meditation and light stretching as a way to complement the healing process while in recovery.
